Q.Discuss any three difficulties faced by Armand Denis during his search for four-tusked elephant?

Ans:"The Four-Tusked Elephant" is research based essay which sheds light on the adventure of Armand Denis on his pursuit of truth.Armand Denis as the narrator was making safari with his friends Putman and Texan in the Ituri forest.He had heard about the four-tusked elephant from pygmies.so,he became very much interested to find them .During his research,he faced difficulty in finding support from others and problems to find and transport the tusk and skull of the elephant. 

          Firstly,the major difficulty he faced during the start of his research was lack of support.Although the pygmies and other people believed that the four-tusked elephant was the King of all elephants but nobody was ready to help him as it was very dangerous.According to them,the elephant had come and spoiled their hunt many times and it had killed many people.  Therefore,everyone kept well away from it.so in order to get support,he had to bribe the people.

           Secondly,he happened to be at a place accidentally where people were talking about the four-tusked elephant and he found about the four tusks and a man named Mombeli who brought them.He bribed Mombeli to bring the tusks.But after four months,when he came back,he didn't find Mombeli. Luckily when he was passing by Reanud's office,he found the skull of the elephant but it was deep in mud.He found the skull but instead of the tusks,he got a letter from warehouse at Abba that the tusks were dispatched to their warehouse in Belgium.so in order to collect it,he told his father to pursue it for him.
          Thirdly,the man had the skull of the elephant but when he was transporting it with a truck to his hometown,it fell into the stream and they had a hard time rescuing it.When he left the doors of the truck open to circulate the air,some hyenas chewed the back of skull.so they had to drove them away.
          To sum up,Armand Denis had to struggle a lot to find about the location of skull and tusk of the four-tusked elephant.He was also helped by coincidence but while transporting it,it seemed as if he has to protect the skull like mother protects a baby from any harm.Although he wasn't up-to the mark but it was good enough to complete his research.
